The timetable laid out when Robert Williams underwent surgery on his left knee makes it clear that the Celtics' big man is very close to returning to action soon.
We're clicking on all cylinders offensively right now, and with Rob, our defense and rebounding should pick up as well! Not to mention the Smart-to-Williams lobs that are so thrilling to see! Take your time, young man! I want a healthy Time Lord!
A great read and welcomed news! I’m interested to see how Rob fits in with the team upon his return, particularly offensively. On the one hand, I think Rob will negatively impact our spacing, particularly if we revert to the two-big lineups with Rob. On the other hand, the increased emphasis on off-ball movement this year should provide Rob with tons of easy looks and offensive rebounding opportunities. Of course, Rob’s ability to provide vertical spacing will provide even more offensive diversity. Thanks again for another great article!
I think the biggest thing besides him being a really good off-the-ball defender, is his return brings about another layer of prep work for opponents. They can win games without him, but I don't see a strong title shot if he's doing what we do a lot of, which is watching the team play. They need him out there. I don't think it's just a coincidence that of their three losses, two came to Cleveland which has arguably the best 1-2 big man punch in the NBA. Rob's defense, ability to run the floor would have been a huge help in both of those games which as you recall, Boston still managed to be in position to win them both. It's gonna be fun seeing him back on the floor soon.

It's a good time to be a Celtics fan. Things are really coming together for them.
