The Boston Celtics’ 130-118 victory over Charlotte extended their winning streak to seven straight, putting even more distance between themselves and the rest of the NBA.
But this back-to-back series against Charlotte did more than just pad their win total. It exposed Boston to some of the kind of challenges they’re likely to experience in a playoff series which is the greatest benefit, regardless of the outcome, in playing the same team in their building twice within a 72-hour window - the kind of setting you would experience in an actual playoff series.
No one is more aware of the importance of playoff preparation among the Celtics players than Jayson Tatum.
The 24-year-old MVP candidate was by far the best player on the floor this weekend, averaging 42 points per game to go with nine rebounds and 5.5 assists while shooting 54 percent from the field.
Tatum will be the first to admit there were some vital lessons learned from those two losses to Orlando - at home - within a short, 72-hour window.
