The Celtics are putting the finishing touches on acquiring 7-foot-2 big man Kristaps Porzingis, a shot-blocking, stretch center who has been on the Celtics' radar for some time.

BOSTON — During his end-of-the-season press conference, Brad Stevens was clear on his plans for this summer.

Rather than be seduced by the knee-jerk reaction of fans who were disappointed the season ended sooner than anticipated, Stevens went into the summer looking to build around the team’s foundation - Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown - and not break it up.

Doing so might require tough decisions, leading to tough days.

Wednesday was one of those days with the bittersweet news that Boston was going to acquire Porzingis, a sharp-shooting 7-foot-3 big man who checks off (at least) a couple of boxes on Boston’s to-get list this summer.
