The postseason numbers thus far have not been pretty for Jayson Tatum. But considering the Celtics are 5-1 with a 22.6 average margin in the five wins, it’s understandable why he’s feeling pretty good right now.
BOSTON — Regardless of how this postseason ends, Jayson Tatum has established himself as one of the all-time great Boston Celtics players.
A fixture among the franchise’s statistical greats in most categories, winning an NBA title seems to be the only thing missing on the Tatum mantel of achievements.
But here’s the crazy part about Tatum, the Celtics, and the pursuit of Banner 18.
He’s the best player on the team. And yet, Boston could wind up hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy as the newest NBA champion with Tatum not being the team’s best or second-best player during the Celtics’ postseason run.
Is that a shortcoming on Tatum’s part, or does it speak to the team’s top-tier depth and to some extent, explain why they are viewed by many as the front-runner to win it all?
