The fact that Jaylen Brown dropped a 50-point piece on the jacuzzi-hot Los Angeles Clippers in itself is noteworthy.

This came after the NBA’s other “JB” - New York’s Jalen Brunson - was named the Eastern Conference’s Player of the month for December despite Jaylen Brown having slightly better numbers in most statistical categories of note, a comparable team winning percentage and oh, by the way, won the head-to-head matchup AND was named Eastern Conference player of the week twice in December.

But the real story of this game for Brown came in the post-game press conference when Brown delivered what may have been his most insightful post-game presser of the season.

He touched on several topics, from the contrast that exists between this roster and the one from a year ago, his role as an NBA two-way player and the questions about the balancing act he has walked as an elite, top-tier NBA player who is actively and aggressively involved in the Boston community.

Brown logs a good amount of minutes, but in terms of getting to know his thoughts and feelings on issues of significance to fans, this was Brown being authentic on a level that we seldom see from him or any professional athlete.

This was the closest we have seen to this thing called a conversation; it’s something you rarely see in this day and age between athletes and the media, a relationship that’s more transactional than thought-provoking in this day.

It was the kind of conversation that was more than overdue, the kind that again, speaks volumes about the authenticity that Brown brings to the game between the lines, and the bigger game he’s killin’ off the court.

The day consists of 1,440 minutes.

Carving out seven or so to listen to Brown will be one of the best uses of your time today.

In addition, there’s also post-game sound from other players and head coach Joe Mazzulla following Boston’s 146-115 win over the Los Angeles Clippers which wrapped up the team’s 4-1 West coast trip. With the win, Boston (23-11) is just three games behind East-leading Detroit, and a game behind the second-place New York Knicks.
