Celtics rumble ahead with emphatic win over Oklahoma City
With the win, Boston secures the top overall seed in the playoffs.
BOSTON — Conventional wisdom says the Oklahoma City Thunder should not be this good, this soon.
They came into Wednesday’s midweek matchup against the Boston Celtics as the team everyone in the West is chasing, a far cry from where they were a year ago when the only thing they were chasing was a spot in the play-in game.
Oklahoma City has played their way into being a legitimate title contender, showcasing depth, top-tier talent sprinkled with the kind of poise a team so young has no business having at such an early stage of their development.
But seeing this team up close and personal, it’s clear as day that this team is built to win at the highest of levels - something they have been doing all season.
And it is in these moments, against these kind of teams, that tend to bring out the very best in the Boston Celtics.
That’s exactly what happened on Wednesday night.
As the game wore on, the Celtics seemingly got stronger, putting more and more distance between themselves and Oklahoma City before eventually putting the Thunder away with a 135-100 win.
And with the victory, Boston has secured home court advantage throughout the playoffs.
