Celtics' Depth Sinks Warriors In Must-See matchup
Jayson Tatum (34 points on 9-for-27 with 7 turnovers) struggled with his shot most of the game, but his teammates (Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, Malcolm Brogdon) delivered when it mattered most.
For most of Thursday’s must-see matchup between the Jayson Tatum-led Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors, there wasn’t a lot to like about Tatum’s play.
He missed more shots than usual and didn’t play with great poise which was a major factor in him turning the ball over seven times, three of which came in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.
The more you watch the Celtics play, the clearer it becomes Tatum’s surrounding cast - more than Tatum’s actual play - will determine how far this team goes this season.
They certainly were the true difference-maker in Boston’s 121-118 overtime win against the Warriors.
If not for Al Horford having one of those Back-to-the-future stretches in the fourth quarter and overtime and Jaylen Brown delivering down the stretch like he’s the MVP candidate and not Tatum, Boston loses this game.
But Tatum’s play will continue to grab headlines and garner “M-V-P” chants at all arenas.
