BOSTON — With three seconds to play in overtime, Boston’s Derrick White tossed a near-perfect pass to the opposite side of the court to Jaylen Brown.

He caught it, only to have Mikal Bridges snatch it before he could get a potential game-tying shot off.

It was a fitting end, as the New York Knicks came from 20 points down in the third quarter to steal Game 1 with a 108-105 overtime win. And with it, take home court advantage in the best-of-seven series.

Despite Boston blowing the huge lead, there were plenty of opportunities in the fourth quarter and overtime for Boston to make amends for the many basketball sins they committed.

But time and time again, New York turned the Celtics away and eventually turned a horrendous stretch into one of the most important wins for the franchise in years.
